Pietro Pellegri is back: Return to the field at the end of the month after two serious injuries

The Genoese striker, after overcoming two torn cruciate ligaments in both knees, finally seems ready to return to competition.

After almost two years away from the field, Pietro Pellegri, one of Torino's offensive options, is on the verge of making his comeback. Despite the adversities, the player has shown great determination to prove his worth and is eager to play again.

Pellegri's ordeal: Two torn cruciate ligaments

The last 21 months have been a challenge for Pellegri. After a loan spell at Empoli, where he was looking to regain his best form, he suffered his first serious injury in December 2024: a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. This injury kept him out for the rest of the season.

In July 2025, he renewed his contract with Torino and was loaned out again to the Tuscan team, this time in Serie B. Despite scoring three goals and showing good performances in the first half of the season, bad luck struck again in January of this year with a new torn anterior cruciate ligament, this time in his right knee, forcing him to undergo surgery and a long recovery period.

Recovery and Abate's decision

Pellegri is currently recovered and training intensely to make up for lost time. He arrived at the Filadelfia facilities well before his teammates to get physically ready. Everything indicates that in the next two weeks, at the latest by the end of the month, Pellegri will be available for selection by Ignazio Abate.

This return marks a new beginning for the striker, who is aware that he will have to earn his place in the team's attack. However, the prospect of playing again fills him with enthusiasm.
